Antique Carved Wood Renaissance Portrait Relief Panel
A hand carved wood relief panel depicting a man in profile. The central roundel frames the portrait in a soft cap, surrounded by scrolling foliage. Carved in the Continental Renaissance revival style, the panel has a dark oxidised, original surface and an old painted reverse.
Upon research this is very similar to many 16th century carved panels. It is very light.
Condition: Good antique condition with age-appropriate patina. There is a hole at the top presumably where someone has nailed it to their wall.
