This stoneware ink bottle is stamped with the classic typography "MEEK'S INKS DUNEDIN" in a crisp black transfer.
Produced by W.J. Meek, who established his manufacturing in Dunedin in the late 19th century, this bottle dates from the period between 1890 and 1920, before the company switched to glass production. The bottle features a salt-glazed finish and the characteristic pour spout used for filling inkwells.
Today, these sturdy little vessels make charming bud vases for single dried stems or simply as graphic, historical accents on a shelf.
Condition: Vintage/Antique condition. As a dug or utilitarian item, it has a rough, honest character. The stamp is clear and legible. There may be minor manufacturing flaws or surface marks typical of mass-produced stoneware of this era, which adds to its authenticity.
