A delightful miniature stoneware pottle with a glossy, salt-glazed finish.
This petite utility vessel features distinct vertical ribbing around the body, giving it a wonderful tactile quality. Originally produced as a disposable container for jams, pastes, or ointments in the late 19th or early 20th century, it has survived as a charming piece of social history.
Its small scale makes it perfect for repurposing as a matchstick holder on a mantle, a salt pinch pot on the dining table, or a tiny bud vase.
Condition: Good antique condition. The glossy glaze is intact. As a utilitarian piece, it features natural manufacturing irregularities, roughness, and glaze drips that are characteristic of mass-produced stoneware of this era.
