A beautifully crafted scale model of HMB Endeavour, the ship that carried Captain James Cook on his first voyage of discovery through the Pacific in 1768. Cook charted the New Zealand coastline and the east coast of Australia aboard this vessel, making it one of the most historically significant ships in the story of the southern hemisphere.
The model is built to a high standard, with individually planked timber hull, a distinctive blue painted stripe along the gunwale, fabric sails, and an intricate web of standing and running rigging. Three masts, a bowsprit, and a small tender on deck.
It sits on a simple timber display stand with a nameplate identifying the vessel. Whether this was a personal labour of love or a quality commercial kit build, the result is a handsome, substantial piece. A natural fit for a library, study, or any interior that appreciates the age of sail.
Condition: Excellent overall. Some marks to sails and fading in flag.
