Antique Alfred Meakin "Ovando" Flow Blue Tureen & Ladle
A rare and complete sauce tureen set by Alfred Meakin in the highly collectible "Ovando" pattern (c. 1890s).
This exquisite set includes the footed tureen, original lid, and - most remarkably - the matching ceramic ladle. The design features a deep, rich cobalt blue floral motif in the classic Flow Blue style, where the pattern softly bleeds into the white ironstone.
Detailed with scalloped edges and generous gold gilding on the handles and finial, this is a true collector's piece. It is the perfect size for serving cranberry sauce, gravy, or cream, but looks equally breathtaking simply displayed on a dresser where the blue can really pop.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. It is rare to find a set this complete. The transfer print is crisp and deep in colour. The gold gilding shows some light rubbing consistent with age. Please note standard manufacturing anomalies (such as kiln spur marks or light crazing) often found in Flow Blue pottery of this era.
