Antique Handblown Glass Pendant Shade with Brass Fittings
A lovely example of early twentieth century pressed and handblown glass work, this pendant shade has the classic tulip bell form that was popular across both the Edwardian and Art Nouveau periods. The ribbed body swells gracefully outward before flaring into a ruffled, petal-like rim with delicate leaf detailing, a hallmark of the decorative glasswork produced in England, France, and Belgium during this era.
The glass carries a faint iridescent lustre that catches the light beautifully, hinting at the influence of the Art Nouveau movement on everyday domestic objects. It hangs from its original brass chain and ceiling rose, with a brass collar fitting at the neck.
The shade is sold as-is with the original hanging hardware. It will need rewiring to use with a standard light fitting, which can be arranged for an additional fee, or it can be fitted to a modern pendant holder.
Condition: Excellent. Brass fittings show natural age patina.
