Large Italian Alabaster Birdbath with Carved Doves
A vintage carved alabaster birdbath. The bowl sits on a sturdy pedestal with a square plinth base, its rim carved in overlapping petal or leaf forms. Four birds perch around the edge, each carved separately in a paler, whiter marble that sits in gentle contrast to the warm honey and grey-veined body below. Likely late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1880–1920.
Condition: The alabaster body presents with good age-appropriate patina and warm honey toning throughout. Small losses to birds as to be expected and one petal on outer rim of bowl has a small amount of damage.
Dimensions: 21cm diameter x 14cm high.
