Lovatt Temuka NZ Te Rona Marbleware Oval Platter
A striking oval platter in Lovatt Temuka's iconic Te Rona Marbleware, produced in the 1980s at Lovatt Studios in Temuka, New Zealand.
The swirling brown and cream pattern is achieved through a slip-casting technique unique to Lovatt, involving two entirely different clay types cast in a single mould - a process considered technically impossible by conventional standards, making these pieces genuinely one of a kind.
Stamped OP3 (Oval Plate, size 3) and signed to the base, believed to be in the hand of R S Lovatt, son of studio founder T N Lovatt. With no further Marbleware in production, these platters are increasingly sought after by collectors of New Zealand studio pottery.
Sold individually - add up to three to your cart depending on availability.
Condition: Good condition with some glazing defects presenting as minor pits in the glaze, consistent with the nature of the Marbleware process.
Dimensions: 25cm (length) x 15cm (width)
