Silverplate Piecrust Salver with Engraved Decoration
A round silverplate salver with a piecrust scalloped rim. The well is densely engraved with scrolling foliage, flowers and basket-weave panels radiating from a plain central cartouche left blank for a monogram. It sits on the table or sideboard and would have served drinks or calling cards. The piecrust form follows the Chippendale taste of the eighteenth century, revived through Victorian and later silverplate.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate patina. Comes unpolished, with some tarnish and surface scratching consistent with age, see photos.
